At UHY Ross Brooke, we are proud of our long-standing annual sponsorship of a race at Newbury Racecourse. Each July, we eagerly await this event, which has become a highlight in our calendar.
We know that it is a popular event and is a way for us to show our appreciation to our colleagues for their hard work throughout the year, and to our clients and professional contacts for trusting us to provide quality accounting services.
2024 was similar to previous years in that we shared a hospitality box with our good friends at Crossland Solicitors overlooking the race track. When it was time for our sponsored race, the UHY Ross Brooke Fillies’ Handicap, we were invited into the parade ring to inspect the horses and to choose the best turned out. We chose Attila The Honey who looked stunning and who then went on to win the race.
We were invited into the Royal Box to watch the race, and then Chris Davies, partner in our Newbury office presented the trophy to winning team which included jockey Franny Norton.
Returning to our guests in our own box, we enjoyed the rest of the day.
Our involvement in horse racing goes way beyond sponsorship; we are specialist accountants for the equine sector.
Our team has many years of experience working with clients in the horse racing and bloodstock industries. We understand the unique challenges and opportunities in this sector. Whether it’s breeders, trainers, owners, or equestrian businesses, our expertise helps clients manage their finances effectively.
Being based in Newbury, close to the Lambourn Valley of the Racehorse, puts us in a unique position to service our many horseracing-related clients in this locale. But our expertise and renown makes us a popular choice for many in this sector further afield across the UK.
What financial guidance do equestrian businesses need?
Financial Planning and Tax Advice – Horse racing and breeding can be unpredictable. Effective financial planning is essential. We offer tailored tax advice to help clients navigate the complexities of tax regulations and ensure compliance with HMRC. Cash flow can be a major hurdle, especially at in difficult times, and businesses often need help forecasting to ensure they keep their heads above water.
Audits and Assurance – Accurate and reliable audits and assurance services can help equestrian businesses maintain trust with stakeholders and raise capital.
Capital investment – Purchasing new assets or property can be a big drain on resources, but there may be tax breaks available.
