Tax Floodline Launched

In a praiseworthy attempt to help those affected by the recent flooding HMRC have launched a dedicated helpline 0800 904 7900. The helpline is available Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm, Saturday and Sunday 8am to 4pm.

In order to help HMRC have promised:

• to agree instalment arrangements where taxpayers are unable to pay as a result of the floods;
• to agree a practical approach when individuals and businesses have lost vital records due to the floods;
• to suspend debt collection procedures for those affected by the floods; and
• to cancel penalties when the taxpayer has missed statutory deadlines.
