October is always an exciting time with Halloween right around the corner (we’re all looking forward to seeing the creative costumes our team will come up with this year). But beyond the fun, October is also Cyber Awareness Month, a time to focus on safeguarding our organisations from digital threats.
By Chris Harris – Chief Information Officer
Throughout the month, our CIO, Chris Harris, will be sharing important security insights and pointing you toward valuable resources to help keep your business safe.
Cyber Essentials offer for charitities
One fantastic opportunity this month comes from IASME, which is offering discounted Cyber Essentials accreditation for charities throughout October. If your charity is looking to boost its cyber defences, don’t miss out on this offer. You can learn more here: Charity Cyber Essentials Awareness Month – Cyber Essentials (iasme.co.uk).
Cyber security training for small businesses
Additionally, the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) provides excellent free introductory awareness training. With human error being a major factor in most cyber breaches, staff training is essential—and this resource is a great place to start, especially for small businesses. Check it out here: Top Tips for Staff – Overview (ncsc.gov.uk).
Let’s work together to ensure we avoid any real-life horror stories this season!
