What’s next after school? For many teens, that’s the million-dollar question. But at Lydiard Park Academy’s recent careers day, the buzz wasn’t about stressing over the future—it was about exploring exciting possibilities. And UHY Ross Brooke was there to help make it all happen!
We were absolutely thrilled to be part of this fantastic event, represented by Cara and Lily, one of our amazing AAT trainees. They shared real-world insights about what it’s like to work in accountancy, the kind of opportunities it opens up, and how it’s more than just numbers—though, let’s be real, numbers are pretty cool!
A Day Full of Inspiration
The day was covered by local media, with glowing write-ups in the Swindon Advertiser and Swindon Link. The event itself? A buzzing hive of excitement, with plenty of students exploring careers across industries, from tech and healthcare to—you guessed it—finance.
Mark Godley from Lydiard Park Academy summed it up perfectly:
“In my humble opinion it was our best one yet, and we have received a lot of positive comments not only about the event itself but also the engagement of you, all our partners – so again, thank you to you all for making it such a great day.”
Positive vibes all around! It’s no surprise though—Lydiard Park Academy knows how to create an event that gets students excited about their futures.
Why We Love Careers Days
At UHY Ross Brooke, we believe careers days are about so much more than handing out leaflets. For us, it’s a chance to chat with young people about the paths they might not have thought of before. Did you know, for example, that accountancy can lead to careers in tech, forensic accounting, or even working for your favourite sports team?
Lily shared her own journey as an AAT trainee, breaking down the steps it takes to get qualified and how she’s building a career she’s genuinely excited about. We hope her story showed students that the world of finance isn’t just about spreadsheets—it’s about solving problems, working with great people, and making a real difference in businesses and communities.
A Big Thank You
We’re so proud of our ongoing partnership with Lydiard Park Academy and love being a part of events that shape young minds and futures. If just one student left the event feeling inspired to explore accountancy as a career, then we’ve done our job.
So, if you’re reading this and have questions about accountancy or want to know more about what we do at UHY Ross Brooke, don’t be shy—reach out! You never know, your dream job could start with a single conversation.
And to all the students who stopped by our stand, keep dreaming big and working hard. The future is yours to shape, and we can’t wait to see where you’ll take it! 😊
