Are you ready for quarterly tax reporting?
From April 2026, many landlords will need to send updates to HMRC every three months, not just one tax return each year. This change is part of Making Tax Digital for Income Tax.
Many landlords are not yet signed up. Many are unsure whether the rules apply to them, especially those with only one property or modest rental income.
Missing the new requirements can lead to penalties, even where the tax due is low.
Does Making Tax Digital apply to you?
Making Tax Digital is likely to apply if
- you receive rental income from UK property
- your total gross income is more than £50,000 per year from rental or self employment.
If that sounds like you, now is the time to check what action is needed.
How we can help landlords
We are a local firm of chartered accountants with long-standing experience supporting landlords.
Our Making Tax Digital service can include:
- confirming whether MTD applies to you
- registering you with HMRC
- setting up simple digital record keeping
- submitting quarterly updates on your behalf
- acting as your agent with HMRC
You do not need to change letting agents. You do not need to overhaul how your property is managed.
