Tax Manager vacancy – Newbury, Berkshire

We are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Tax Manager to join our established Tax team, based in our Newbury office.
The role
This is a senior position with a requirement for a broad base of knowledge in respect of both personal and corporate tax advisory work, supporting individuals, owner managed businesses and corporate groups, with related exposure to complex tax matters.
The role includes responsibility for reviewing personal and corporate tax compliance, delivering advisory work such as group reorganisations, reconstructions, share schemes, business valuations, EOT implementation, IT, IHT and CGT planning, advising on business exits; employee retention and incentivisation; NICs, SDLT, share schemes, and generally acting as a senior technical point of reference within the firm.
Clients will vary from individuals, partnerships to small and mid-size OMB’s to larger corporate groups.
The role involves directly and indirectly managing client relationships. You will also be involved in mentoring and developing junior staff, contributing to the growth and development of the tax department, and working closely with partners on strategic matters.
The right individual will be academically diverse, nimble and technically broad based.
Key areas of work
- Some personal tax compliance and advisory support
- Corporate tax compliance and advisory for owner managed and corporate clients
- Strategic planning including feasibility studies and projects
- EMI, EIS, employment related securities, ATED and HMRC advisory matters and enquiries
- Review of complex personal tax matters for directors, shareholders and HNWIs
- Supervision, mentoring and development of junior tax staff
- Contribution to business development and firm initiatives, including MTD
- Being a visible first point of contact for the firm.
About you
You will be CTA qualified (or equivalent) with strong UK tax experience gained in professional practice. You should be technically confident, comfortable advising clients directly, and able to manage work autonomously while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
Experience with owner managed businesses and advisory led work is essential. Prior senior level exposure to mentoring staff and reviewing complex work is expected.
Working arrangements
The working week: Normal full-time hours of work are 37.5 hours per week, to be worked from 8.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday. These can be adjusted as noted above.
Location: Principal work base is our Newbury office
