Spreading Holiday Cheer: Santa Fun Runs and Vouchers for Christmas

The festive spirit was in full swing this month as UHY Ross Brooke accountants proudly sponsored the two Santa Fun Runs in Newbury and Thatcham. As a company deeply committed to community engagement and giving back, we were delighted to be a part of this merry event that brought joy to both young and old, and which raised just under £1600 for local charities, from the Newbury run alone. Those benefiting included Home-Start West Berkshire, Newbury Riding for the Disable, New Life – Special Care Babies, and Time to Talk.

On two crisp winter mornings, the streets of Newbury and Thatcham came alive with the cheerful sights and sounds of the Santa Fun Runs. Participants of all ages donned their Santa suits, from rosy-cheeked toddlers to seasoned runners with beards to rival the man in the North Pole himself.

Spreading the Holiday Spirit with Two Exciting Competitions

UHY Ross Brooke organized two exciting competitions to entertain locals at each event, as well as providing welcome drinks after the races, and somewhere to shelter from the terrible rain in Thatcham!

In the “Guess Where Santa Dropped His Presents” competition, participants were presented with a map, and their task was to pinpoint the square where Santa had made his magical gift deliveries. The competition was not only entertaining but also encouraged participants to think about the different places around Newbury and Thatcham which had personal significance. A random generator selected the winning location as Wash Common and J Kirby, our lucky winner has received her £50 Marks & Spencer voucher—just in time for a Christmas shopping spree.

How Much Money in the Jar?

The second competition, “Guess How Much Money Was in the Jar,” added an element of suspense to the festivities. A festive jar was filled with an assortment of notes, and participants had to make an educated guess about its total value. When the jar was finally opened, the exact amount was revealed as £16,600, and L Keeble who came closest has been awarded a £50 Marks & Spencer voucher, bringing smiles and warmth to their holiday season.

Spreading Holiday Cheer: Our Commitment to the Community

At UHY Ross Brooke, we believe in the importance of giving back to the communities we serve. The Santa Fun Runs in Newbury and Thatcham offered the perfect opportunity to do just that. We were delighted to see the joy and excitement that our competitions brought to the participants and how these events added an extra layer of merriment to the festive season.

As we look back on this heartwarming event, we are reminded of the power of community engagement and the joy that comes from spreading holiday cheer. We extend our warmest wishes to the lucky winners of our competitions and to all who participated in the Santa Fun Runs, whether running or supporting.

Thank you to the 40 volunteers who enabled the Fun Runs to go ahead, to Newbury and Thatcham Rotary Club, and the Newbury and Thatcham communities for embracing the spirit of the season. We look forward to more opportunities to make a positive impact in the years to come.

Happy Holidays from UHY Ross Brooke!
