Expect long delays with VAT registrations

tax problems and solutions

We have seen anecdotal evidence that basic VAT Registrations are currently taking around 8 weeks to be processed, with more complex/group/land related registrations taking many months.

We have received notifications from HMRC that the expected date for some of these more complex cases may be as late as February 2023, and have also seen further evidence that they are still processing some applications from late May!

The delays are being blamed on HMRC’s recent change in systems, which has caused a lot of additional manual work for HMRC staff and has slowed processing times down enormously.

Amongst everything else going on, this is one more thing we could all do without.
